M.C.Escher - The three spheres (1946)
This piece is of a graphite medium. This image is highly detailed and uses tone to emphasize this. My favourite aspect of this image is the reflection drawn of the artist himself and the intricate perspective this uses. It seems as if he is trying to represent himself in a different way and create an idea of unique viewpoints.
Kerala Ajayan - Silence (2012)
This piece is originally pencil on paper. Whilst I was able to find limited information of this artist, I believe this image is very effective and the artist is well founded in her style. I believe this image uses tone and the contrast of a limited amount of colour to help shock the viewer, even though the image content is fairly effective raw.

Januz Miralles - Ruined (2012)
Januz Miralles creates a handmade texture on an otherwise digital surface, allowing both to coexist.
Huguette Despault May - Mother Ship (2011)
This piece uses tone to create an almost impossible level of intricacy. This piece creates an atmosphere of confusion. I believe this is effective because it creates this confusion with such a heavy impact because of the variety of shapes and line.
Heikki Leis - "everyday reflections" (2013)
